At its Mt Beauty premises, on Wednesday 13th of October 2021 , the Mount Beauty Community Bank (Kiewa Mitta Murray Community Enterprises Ltd) announced the inaugural award of the $5,000 Susie Cohn Memorial Creative Arts Grant to talented Mt Beauty ballet student Axel Mero. Axel has been admitted to the Royal Ballet School in London and has already started his studies there.

Bank Chair, Andrew Randell, said that Axel is a very worthy recipient. He also paid tribute to Susie Cohn and her outstanding efforts in raising pledges of support from Upper Kiewa Valley citizens to establish the Community Bank and her subsequent support of the Bank. “She was a real stalwart” he said. “and thanks to everyone who has kept supporting the Community Bank over the years because that is what has made this award possible”.

Susie’s husband, Ian Cohn, said “Susie always supported the Bank. Susie’s family thanks the Bank’s Directors, Staff and Shareholders for honoring Susie in this way. And of course we would like to say that Axel is a fitting and wonderful inaugural recipient of the award.”
