Creation

In his tribute to Susie at the Memorial Service, Andrew Randell, Chair of the Mount Beauty Community Bank, announced the creation of the “Susie Cohn Memorial Creative Arts Grant”. He spoke of Susie’s efforts in 2006, as a member of the steering committee, to secure capitalisation to create the Bank.

“It involved a lot of lobbying of members of the community to support us, most of which involved the card table outside the Bakery on a Saturday morning.” Andrew said.

“I always knew that I had one volunteer who was going to be there, and that was Susie Cohn. She was tireless in her efforts to get the Bank established. And she continued to support us over the years as a member of the sponsorship committee.”

“Susie was a dedicated community member, tireless worker and very passionate about this community of Mount Beauty.”

In recognition of Susies efforts, The Board of the Community Bank decided to establish the Susie Cohn Memorial Creative Arts Grant. This will be a $5000 grant awarded each year to a member of the Mount Beauty community to further their studies, learning and pursuit of the creative and performing arts.

“We think this is a fitting recognition of Susie’s passion and commitment to what we worked so hard to establish and what has been a wonderful success over the last 14 years.” Andrew said.
