Community Bank

A Facebook post from Ian.

Susie took on projects. I was one of her projects. Another was the Mt Beauty Community Bank. Susie fully embraced the Community Bank concept and joined the Steering Committee to establish the Bank. She was prominent in campaigning to persuade citizens of the Upper Kiewa Valley and others associated with the UKV to pledge to buy shares in the Bank to set it up. Along with others, including Kirsten, Maria and Barbara, she spent many hours campaigning in the Mt Beauty CBD and at Tawonga to get the pledges up to the level where the bank could be set up. After the Bank was successfully established with over $600,000 in initial capital, she took part in the Bank Sponsorship Committee set up to disburse the Bank profits to local community organisations. The Community Bank has now dispersed over one million dollars in sponsorships to the local community.
